IEESC hosted a forum on energy and environmental research on Oct 20, 2023, as part of the Institute’s continued efforts to address the impacts and challenges related to energy and environment issues affecting Saskatchewan communities.
The one-day event featured more than 30 speakers. Dr. Scott Rosendahl from Canadian Light Source delivered a presentation on the overview of techniques available at the beamline through a series of examples and the advantages of using synchrotron mid-infrared spectromicroscopy in research programs. The forum covered many topics, such as agriculture, working with rural/remote communities, mitigation, remediation, environmental education, enhanced oil recovery, energy modelling, water, waste, decision making models, climate models, and risk assessment.
Officials from the public and private sectors interacted with U of R managements, IEESC members from the faculties of Arts, Business Administration, Education, Engineering, and Science. The aim was to promote collaborations and to identify new partnerships that will bring value to future research and problem solving.
