Top 150 Engineers recognition

The Institute for Energy, Environment and Sustainable Communities’ Executive Director, Dr. Gordon Huang, has been recognized for his achievements in energy and environmental systems.

To celebrate Canada’s 150th anniversary McMaster University’s Faculty of Engineering is recognizing its outstanding alumni for the role they have played in shaping Canada and the world. Dr. Huang is building capacity in the energy industry by developing technologies that use inexact optimization approaches to tackle complexities in energy and environmental management. These include examining environmental management under uncertainty, and energy systems planning under changing climate conditions. Dr. Huang’s work has had an impact in many sectors around the world by providing a scientific basis for formulating policy and managing environmental problems in the energy industry.

Dr. Huang received his PhD in Civil Engineering from McMaster University in 1994. He was awarded an Honorary Doctor of Science in 2016.
