IEESC Forum on Energy, Environment and Sustainable Communities

December 18, 2014

IEESC hosted a forum on energy, environment and sustainable communities on December 16, 2014, as part of the institute’s continued effort to address the impacts and challenges related to environment and energy issues affecting Saskatchewan communities.

IEESC’s advisory committee officials met with IEESC research scientists from the faculties of Arts, Business Administration, Education, Engineering, and Science. The aim was to promote collaborations among institute members, explore interactions with industry and government stakeholders, and to identify potential new partnerships that will bring value to future research and problem solving.

The one-day event featured more than 25 speakers. The forum covered many topics, including working with Indigenous and local communities on energy and environmental projects, water management, wastewater treatment, environmental remediation, microbial enhanced oil recovery, agriculture, conservation, environmental education, ecology in religion, data analytics, granular computing, and energy and climate modeling. Attendees discussed identifying capacities, communication, processes, priority areas, and public engagement.

The next forum will be held in 2015.
